Body Cream vs. Body Butter

No, this is not a body butter, but this is a common question we get a lot when we are doing markets. But what's the difference with a body cream and body butter?

Body Butters

Typically, most whipped body butters are a combination of heated butters (ie. shea) and oils whipped together to create a soft body butter that melts on contact with your skin -there is no water involved in a body butter. Depending on the ingredients of the body butter, it is usually "heavier" which is better for those with dry skin. It can also help with irritations, but please check the ingredients before you buy anything!

Personally, body butters are not my go-to because I don't enjoy the oiliness that comes with it, and how long they take to absorb into my skin.

Body Creams

As of right now, we have around 8 different scents of body creams made in small batches to help maintain the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Body creams contain water, but don't let that stop you from thinking they can't or won't be as hydrating as a body butter. Creams help moisturize, hydrate, and absorb much faster than butters. Our creams are thick without being heavy or greasy, but can also help with longer lasting hydration for dry skin...aka less reapplication than lotions. Our creams can also last a long time if only used for your hands (a little goes a long way)!

A good body cream for me not only hydrates but absorbs in a reasonable time without that greasy feeling that some drug store brands have. I also don't add high amounts of fragrance or essential oils into my creams because I usually apply my creams at night before I sleep; but also it shouldn't be so strong to attract the attention of people 6 feet away from you.

Things that can also help with dry skin

Would be to exfoliate at least once a week to help remove excess dry skin cell buildup which in turn will help with skin cell turnover. Our body scrubs will not only help with removing the build up, but will also nourish your skin and can help act as a base for your body cream. Think of it as applying a face oil before your moisturizer!
